We are temporarily postponing our bereavement Help Points and Open Support Groups as per Coronavirus guidance.
We continue to accept referrals to both our adult and children’s bereavement services, with sessions taking place via telephone or virtually. For further information please contact us on 01245 457416 or email [email protected]
Yo-Yo is a community bereavement service for children and young people aged 4 to 18. The service is partly funded by Children in Need.
We offer a range of support options including:
- 1 to 1 support
- Counselling/art therapy
- Group work:
- Mini HUB (Help Understanding Bereavement) – a 5 week course for 7 -11 year olds, looking at bereavement, how it’s affected you and to meet with others in a similar situation
- Outdoor activity days
- Art gallery
- Family meal
- Memorial service
- Workshops for parents and carers to understand the impact of loss and bereavement and how to support your child/young person
Our team also holds workshops for school staff several times a year, to share techniques and strategies to support bereaved children.
Pre-bereavement referrals are accepted when someone significant in a child/young person has a life-limiting illness. Bereavement referrals are accepted from 6 weeks after the death.
Professionals and parents can refer with the consent of the child/young person by completing one of the forms below. Young people can refer themselves if competent to do so.
If you are a parent or professional and would like information please call us on 01245 457416 (no referral form required).
