Thinking about volunteering? Here’s why you should!
Volunteering is an excellent way to contribute to your community, gain new skills and experiences, and make a difference in the lives of others. It involves dedicating your time, effort and skills to a cause you believe in, in a flexible way – you can choose where you volunteer and when.
Volunteer Essex launched in July 2010 and brought together a number of independent volunteer agencies to provide a consistent county-wide service. Each office is run by a small team (yes, some of us are volunteers too) and we’re part of a nationwide network.
We’ve had hundreds of charities who have come to us to find volunteers and thousands of local residents who have discovered volunteering to be a rewarding activity. There are so many amazing stories to tell about people’s experiences that we could be here for a long time telling you about them – because that’s what we think we’re ‘About’ – our success stories.
We aim to give organisations support that enables them to get the right volunteers in place when they’re needed. This cuts out time wasted on unsuitable volunteers (we have had people asking to volunteer who are based in another country – not very practical) so that precious resources aren’t eaten up with admin.
