Founded in 1400 to provide accommodation for the ‘poor and needy’ of the local community, the King Edward VI Almshouses today provides comfortable 21st-century-standard accommodation for individuals or couples, able to live independently, in housing need and living on a low income in the Saffron Walden area.
In addition, the renovated and upgraded former chapel offers a centrally-situated, beautifully light and airy hall for hire at very reasonable rates. Set in beautiful grounds, and appropriate for a wide variety of uses: e.g. day or evening classes, business meetings (wi-fi available), and small, intimate social gatherings.
