Formed in 2007, we are an over 50s group of Social Researchers trained by Anglia Ruskin University, who carry out commissioned research into matters affecting the lives of older people.
We are all volunteers and come from a variety of backgrounds and work experience.
Our Beginning
The ethos behind our formation was to enable a group of older people interested in social issues affecting older people to develop research skills. To practise those skills in research projects (see further details on our research page) and through analysis of data make recommendations from the research findings.
We are particularly proud to have been part of new services e.g. village agents and the continuation of services which older isolated people value e.g. befriending.

Our previous research projects include: Uptake of telecare products, benefits of village agents, uptake of services for Age UK, effectiveness of current and future daycare in Essex, evaluation of befriending service for Age UK, focus groups for NHS, interviews for the Library service.
We meet in Chelmsford on the fourth Friday morning of each month. We always start with a coffee and a catch up. Then we discuss present and future projects, report on our finances, recruitment and training programme and any other issues that arise.
