Molly’s Wood is a nature reserve and orchard for the people and nature of Sible Hedingham and the surrounding area.
The beautiful Molly’s Wood in located in Sible Hedingham and was created by the late Ronnie Green who named it after his wife Molly. The first trees were planted in the 1980s and the woods are now full of biodiversity and local wildlife and show the power of conservation.
This 10-acre nature reserve and community orchard has members that contribute to seasonal activities such as fruit tree pruning and apple pressing to name a few.
Molly’s Wood also work with partners such as local scout groups, primary schools, churches, adult learning and more.
Molly’s Wood was successful in applying for an £18.5k grant from the Halstead Community Fund to build an outdoor classroom and add solar panels to their small indoor cabin to help generate renewable energy.
This will allow them to increase the number and variety of activities and events they provide, helping to expand accessibility and opportunity for engagement with community groups.
The outdoor classroom will be built later this year and the solar panels will be installed soon.
