Headway Essex support adults who have an Acquired Brain Injury and their families and carers. The term “Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)” is defined as non-degenerative injury to the brain occurring since birth. The injury to the brain could have been caused by an accident, illness, injury, stroke or a number of other conditions. Support is provided through our two hubs; one covering North and Mid Essex and the other covering South East, South West and West Essex. Support provided in the community is not charged for.
Our two day opportunities centres in Colchester & Benfleet, offer activities to rehabilitate, educate, inform and support each client with their own personal recovery through the achievement of realistic, achievable and measurable goals. There is a cost for this part of the service.
Our Brain Injury Caseworkers in the community provide emotional and practical support to address health and social issues faced by our clients and their families and carers as a result of brain injury; visiting clients in hospital, in their homes, providing telephone support, and support group meetings across all localities in Essex. Support provided in the community is not charged for.
