Welcome to the online home of the Essex Violence and Vulnerability Unit (VVU), a partnership using research, data, evaluation, targeted interventions and communication campaigns to support young people, their families and communities to stay safe and away from crime, exploitation and serious violence.
Essex Violence and Vulnerability Unit is a partnership set up to tackle County Lines, gangs, child criminal and sexual exploitation and safeguard victims.
We work in partnership to reduce the volume of serious violence across the county. We do this through five main areas of work:
- Voice in our communities
- Targeting interventions
- Developing the workforce
- Raising awareness
- Improving our understanding
The VVU works across all of Essex and is a partnership between a number of agencies, including the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner; Southend, Essex and Thurrock Councils; Essex Police; health; probation; as well as criminal justice, education and voluntary sector groups.
