Being creative is important to us all, but many people feel they are not creative, or that they do not have the time or the skills to do anything creative, or maybe even the money to spare.
I have a secret to share with you – we can all be creative and it need not cost anything at all, honest!Â
We are not looking at painting master pieces here, we are talking about picking up a needle and thread and a scrap of fabric and letting them play together. Feeling the pull of the needle as it runs through the fabric, seeing the marks left behind as the needle takes the thread for a walk. There is no right or wrong way to do it, in fact if you sit quietly and stitch slowly you will notice your intuition taking over. You will also notice how calm and relaxed you start to feel as your stitching continues.
I feel so passionately about sharing creativity with everyone and helping them to get started, that I am spending the whole of 2020 doing just that. This self-imposed commitment is purely voluntary, given with love to inspire people to be creative –Â to give them the opportunity, and the permission, to simply play and see what happens…
Ellen’s Legacy – Slow Stitched Books is my new community art project, you can find out more on my website under ‘community artist’ and on the Facebook Group of the same name. I am also planning on offering a series of free local workshops,, more about that as they are confirmed.

Ellen’s Legacy – who is Ellen?
Once upon a time there lived the most beautiful lady in the whole world, her name was Ellen Devall. She was the kindest, gentlest, strongest and most honest person I have ever known. In the last few days of her life, I promised Ellen I would honour her vision to encourage people to gather together, to sit quietly and stitch slowly.
Ellen was a textile artist, one of the last things she was working on were tiny textile books made from fragments of old fabric; she would say she was ‘stitching herself better’. Ellen loved working in shades of white.
I will show you how Ellen created these gorgeous little books, using only three very basic stitches. I will take you slowly through the process – you can either go to my website to see how, or join the Ellen’s Legacy Facebook group.
I will be running some local workshops which will be freely given with love, by me, to inspire people to be creative –Â to give you the opportunity, and the permission, to simply play and see what happens…
