diddi dance North Essex & South Suffolk is working with Essex Short Breaks: Clubs & Activities, to provide sessions for all children with special educational needs and/or disabilities aged up to 16 years!
Our classes are a responsive teaching style led, in a relaxed environment which enables children to enjoy and explore our dance themes such as Salsa, Rave and Disco as well as having tons of fun!
Our approach builds confidence and lets children just be themselves! We use a variety of tactile props and are sensory aware with regard to music volume, lighting and overstimulation. We can help with inclusive communication devices, PECS symbols are available and we use basic Makaton. Behavioural challenges are met with understanding and absolute support.
Parents and Carers are required to stay the entire session. Class sizes are limited to 12 and we can’t wait to meet you! We will provide a fun filled session in a totally relaxed and welcoming environment where everyone is included, whatever their ability. Siblings are also welcome.
Classes are available in Colchester, Clacton and Hatfield Peverel. These After School Sessions run during term-time and are part funded by Essex Short Breaks: Clubs & Activities and cost just £2 per session. (Booked by the term)
We also provide Wheelchair/Para dance sessions. Propelled or self-propelled are all welcome. Your young person does not need to be able to follow instructions. This is a class designed for all abilities from mild to PLMD and for young people who use any mobility aid, including walkers and frames. Social time and refreshments, followed by movement warm-ups, group movement around the hall and sensory time with props to our funky tunes.
