DNA’s Dancing with Parkinson’s classes are designed to improve the physical and mental well-being of individuals living with Parkinson’s, as well as those with other neurological conditions and heart or circulatory diseases. Through specially tailored dance and movement sessions, participants can experience the many benefits that creative dance can offer from managing symptoms to boosting mental health.Â

Each session is crafted to be inclusive, with seated and standing exercises that encourage full participation. Led by expert practitioners and supported by a dedicated support artists, participants are guided through warm-ups, joint mobilisation, voice activation, and rhythmic movements designed to engage the brain and body. The class is set to dynamic soundtracks spanning the decades, providing both stimulation and a sense of fun and creativity. Collaborative choreography is often developed, with exercises that enhance memory recall and coordination.Â

Sessions run for one hour of dance, followed by a 30-minute social gathering where participants and their companions can relax and connect over a cuppa and a biscuit. Â
