As an evolving organisation, CEDA’s objective is to build a community-based operation from grassroots up, in collaboration with local neighbourhood members, community groups and other social businesses.
Our aim is to help build and develop a shared environment that supports local people with personal development, health and wellbeing, community engagement, employability and enterprise, an approach that is focussed on social inclusion and built on independent financial sustainability.
We have/and are developing various initiatives and enterprises, many already in operation, that fall within three distinctive areas of activity:
1.  KickStart
Getting to grips with life is a challenge for most of us particularly for those who have had a struggle to start with. KickStart is a health and wellbeing programme designed to help people make the most of what’s going on around them.
2.  Community Active
A community is a familiar thread used to bring people together to help and support each other in the fight to overcome local threats. As human beings, we need a sense of belonging, and that sense of belonging is what connects us to the many relationships we develop.
Being community active can be loosely defined as the involvement of people in a series of activities at a local level aimed at bringing about desired improvement in the social well-being of individuals, groups, organisations and neighbourhoods.
3.  The WISE Scheme
The WISE Scheme is a community enterprise development scheme designed to enable local people to engage in local economic activity. It supports the local community by providing a number of community services and provides us with a sustainable income.
Enterprises currently in operation include:
- EzeMove; Reliable, professional domestic and commercial removal service
- ReUzit; Domestic house clearance, bulk waste collection service
- GroundForce; Garden maintenance, clearance and landscaping
- TaskForce; Handyman service, maintenance and installation
- CreativeMind; Craft and arts workshops
- TradeStore; Sale of artefacts and furniture
In terms of inclusion we are citizens of Colchester and as local residents’ members of specific neighbourhoods in and around Colchester.
