Set in the heart of Rochford District, The Freight House is a unique performance and events venue in a beautifully restored former British Rail goods shed. With industrial charm and a flexible layout, it’s ideal for everything from community gatherings and performances to private celebrations and business functions.
With capacities of up to 220 (standing), 220 (buffet), 210 (theatre), 120 (social dining), and 80 (boardroom), The Freight House offers adaptable space for events of all kinds.
Our meanwhile operation runs from 1st July to 31st December. Hire rates cover the main hall only, with the option to book the bar. Additional services—such as event equipment and planning support—are available at extra cost to help tailor your event.
The Freight House currently has no central heating. If you wish to bring your own heating solution, please email us.
Should you wish to book past the 31st of December, please email us as we are compiling a list of hires for the council moving forward.
