We are Alpha Vesta, a Community Interest Company committed to ‘breaking the cycle’ of domestic abuse within our community through awareness, prevention and early intervention.
Our approach involves engaging, educating and empowering all corners of the community including members of the public, businesses, groups, organisations and services to understand their valuable role in recognising the signs, responding and referring anyone who may be experiencing domestic abuse at the earliest opportunity to the specialist support they may need.
The Domestic Abuse Act received royal assent on 29 April 2021 and created for the first time in history, a cross-government statutory definition of domestic abuse, to ensure that domestic abuse is properly understood, considered unacceptable and actively challenged across statutory agencies and in public attitudes. However, many myths, stereotypes and mis-information still exists so if people cannot recognise it, how can they respond?
It is through our work in raising awareness and building understanding that we ensure all victims and all types of domestic abuse are understood.
